On Labour Day 2026, Europa-Union Luxembourg, Europa-Union Trier and Pulse of Europe once again organized their traditional cross-border Europe hike. Numerous members and supporters of the three pro-European organizations took part in the event, carrying a European flag as a visible symbol of European unity and the importance of open borders.

The hike began in Echternach and led participants across the Luxembourg-Germany border to the Liborius Chapel, where they enjoyed stunning views of Echternach’s Basilica and historic town centre under beautiful spring sunshine. The route then continued to the picturesque rock ponds near Ernzen, one of the highlights of the day.

After returning to Echternach, participants rounded off the excursion with a shared lunch, providing another opportunity for cross-border exchange and fellowship.

With this joint event, the three organizations once again highlighted the importance of European integration. “Open borders within the Schengen Area are one of the European Union’s greatest achievements. They make everyday life easier for millions of people and stand as a symbol of a Europe without barriers. This freedom must be preserved,” the organizers emphasized in a joint statement.

The successful hike continued a tradition of joint cross-border activities in the Greater Region and once again demonstrated the close cooperation between pro-European organizations committed to strengthening the European idea.
