Discussion on European climate policy : Let’s Talk About Europe in Luxembourg

On 24 September 2025, the third edition of the “Let’s Talk About Europe” series took place at the Foyer Européen in Luxembourg. Under the title “Climate change: does the EU do enough?”, high-profile guests and young political voices discussed the effectiveness and acceptance of European climate policy.

On 24 September 2025, the third edition of the Europa-Union discussion series Let’s Talk About Europe took place at the Foyer Européen in Luxembourg City under the motto ‘Climate change: does the EU do enough?’. This time, the focus was not only on the scope and efficiency of European climate policy, but also on its acceptance.

The Europa-Union Luxembourg and the Jonk Europäesch Föderalisten (JEF) Luxembourg were able to secure Anne Calteux, Head of the European Commission Representation in Luxembourg, as well as young party representatives Maurice Schwarz (Jonk Sozialisten), Moritz Schaaf (Déi Gréng) and Steven Milbert (Jonk Demokraten) as speakers for this topic.

Claude Franck introduced the topic and then moderated the evening together with Mike Arrensdorff, EUL board member and secretary general of JEF Luxembourg.

The speakers emphasised everything that has already been achieved in terms of climate protection. However, they also made various other suggestions on how to keep climate policy at the top of the political agenda. They were all convinced that the European Union should maintain climate protection as a priority. It must resist efforts to put climate policy on the back burner in favour of other – only seemingly more pressing – issues.

In the ensuing discussion, the numerous guests were able to ask many questions and engage in conversation with the speakers.

The ‘Let’s talk about Europe’ series will continue to address current European policy issues and promote open dialogue between citizens and experts. The organisers would like to thank all contributors for their commitment and the participants for their keen interest and constructive exchange!
