Europe Day in Echternach: A strong signal for a united Europe

Under the motto “Pulling together for Europe”, Europe Day was celebrated in Echternach on 10 May 2025. Numerous organizations, schools, and citizens demonstrated their commitment to the European idea – with a special highlight: the visit of Grand Duke Henri.

Europe Day on 10 May 2025 was celebrated in Echternach under the motto “Working together for Europe”. Numerous organisations, schools and committed citizens took part in various stands in the courtyard of Echternach Abbey on this day to send a signal for the European idea.

The diverse programme included exhibitions, lectures, music and theatre performances, all focusing on the idea of a strong, united Europe. Particularly impressive was the commitment of young people, who presented their visions for Europe's future in the form of collages, posters and video contributions.

For the first time, Europa-Union Luxembourg organised its own information stand on Europe Day in cooperation with other associations (Europa Union Trier, JEF Luxembourg, Pulse of Europe Luxembourg, Pulse of Europe Trier).

A highlight of the day was the visit by Luxembourg's Grand Duke Henri at our information stand. In conversation with EUL Chairman Stefan Kohler, who had initiated the joint appearance, the Head of State learned about the cross-border work of pro-European organisations and their initiatives to strengthen European integration. He was visibly impressed by the enthusiasm for Europe that was palpable on this day.
